NKBA 1st Place Small to Medium Kitchen 2021

Timeless Transitional

The goal for this project was to open up the space so that it flowed into the adjacent living and dining room, create space for a pantry area, use a neutral but not boring color scheme and make a functional cabinet layout. Some challenges with this project were low ceilings, lack of countertop space and dead space that wasn't being utilized to its full potential. The solutions to these issues were to remove the soffits, add in an island to double the countertop space and remove the wall that existed between the kitchen and living room spaces. In doing this, it created much more potential for functionality within the space, allowing the client to have some fun amenities such as a trash/recycling pull out, tile all the way up the wall to make the space feel bigger, a pantry with roll out drawers and a microwave drawer to provide more countertop space. Overall, this project turned out to be everything the client had wished for and more, and they couldn't be happier with their new space.

NKBA 1st Place Small to Medium Bathroom 2021

Mid-Century Glam

For this project, the client wanted to convert their existing, un used guest bathroom/bedroom into a large master suite that attaches to their bedroom. They wanted to have a cozy, free standing bathtub, natural light in the space, a his and hers vanity, a space for applying make-up and more storage space. The challenges this space faced were lack of storage, dark, drab feeling with not enough light, low ceilings and only one vanity sink. In order to achieve the look this client was going for, the existing bedroom walls were removed to make space for a separate water closet, cabinetry and floating shelves were added for more storage space, wall-mounted black faucets were put in to hone in on the mid-century feeling of the space and a door was added between the bathroom and the bedroom to create a true en-suite feeling. Some fun aspects of this project are the walk-in rain shower, the large tiled shower walls, heated flooring and the floor to ceiling walnut wood to add to the dramatic effect of the space. The end result of this project was a beautifully executed bathroom design and a great new space for the clients to feel at home within.

I’m Justine, a Seattle based interior designer specializing in kitchen and bath design. When I was younger I was constantly rearranging my bedroom furniture and driving my parents crazy from all the scuff marks and scratches I was causing to the floors and walls. You wouldn't believe how many different layouts I got out of that little square room though.

After having my son at a young age, I knew I needed a path that would build a life that we could be proud of, and have a career that could support us. Thinking back to my annoying childhood habit, I realized that there was actually a career for that sort of thing. It was then that I decided to pursue my passion in interior design.

While in school, I worked for an interior design firm in Olympia, Washington that specialized in historic remodels and Northwest craftsman design. Shortly after graduating college, I was hired at a large kitchen and bath firm where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the most talented designers in the Northwest. It was there that I truly found an appreciation for kitchen and bath design.

Most people only remodel once in their lifetime, and I want that experience to be a great one. My intention is to build connections with my clients and give them a custom design experience. I strive to make every space as functional as possible, while combining elements of beauty and a homeowner’s personal style.

I look forward to connecting with you!
